Contact Erik
Reaching out is not a commitment to begin therapy β even a quick conversation often helps a parent figure out what's actually needed.
If you're wondering whether therapy is the right next step for your child β or just want to talk through what's going on and get a second opinion β please reach out. I do a brief free phone conversation with every parent before we begin. Even if your search doesn't end with me, I may be able to help you figure out where to start.

What to put in a first message
Don't overthink it. Something like:
"Hi Erik β my daughter is 8. She's been having a hard time since we moved last spring, and I'm wondering if therapy could help. Is this something you work with? What are your next steps?"
That's plenty. I'll write you back with a few times for a short phone call, or with any clarifying questions. If I'm not a fit, I'll say so and try to point you somewhere that is.
Not sure if it's time?
A few questions parents sometimes find useful:
- Has this been going on for more than a few weeks?
- Is it getting better on its own, or staying the same (or worse)?
- Is it affecting sleep, school, friendships, or home life?
- Have you tried the usual things β talking about it, giving it time, adjusting routines β without much change?
- Does your gut say something is off?
If you said yes to more than one of those, it's worth a conversation. Doesn't have to be with me β just with someone.
